Dental Emergencies
At Magnolia Dental, we understand that dental emergencies can’t wait for an appointment. That's why we try our best (depending on our schedule) to accommodate same-day emergency patients.
Learn about the two most common kinds of procedures we perform in emergency situations: root canals and extractions.
Root Canals
If the nerve of your tooth has been affected, it needs to be treated. Along with causing significant discomfort, this infection can also spread throughout the rest of your body and mouth.
Root canals are an excellent solution, allowing us to remove the infected material while saving the rest of your tooth.
We know that some patients fear getting root canals, but there’s no reason to worry. While there can be mild discomfort after you’ve gotten a root canal, it’s comparable to what you would experience when getting a routine filling.
Additionally, this discomfort pales in comparison to the discomfort patients typically experience with a toothache.
Extractions
Whenever possible, we endeavor to preserve as much of your natural tooth material as possible. However, there are some situations where we’ll need to remove the tooth, such as if the tooth is:
Impacted
Damaged or decaying beyond repair
Contributing to overcrowding issues
You can rest easy knowing that this is a common, simple procedure. While it varies based on the reason for extraction, we will often suggest options to replace your missing tooth.
